Swedish House Mafia

About Artist

Swedish House Mafia, commonly referred to as SHM, is an acclaimed Swedish house music trio comprised of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso. Established in late 2008, the group was ranked tenth in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ Poll of 2011 and is widely regarded as the face of mainstream progressive house music.

In 2012, Swedish House Mafia achieved the twelfth spot on the renowned DJ Mag Top 100 Poll. The trio is widely recognized for their record-breaking single, “Don’t You Worry Child”.

On June 24, 2012, the group revealed that they would be disbanding. Their concluding performance was held at Ultra Miami on March 24, 2013. For the next five years, Angello dedicated himself to solo projects, while Axwell and Ingrosso combined forces to create the duo, Axwell & Ingrosso.

The group got back together on March 25, 2018 to close out the 20th anniversary of Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Florida. In April 2022, they dropped their first studio album, Paradise Again, on Republic Records.

The late 1990s and early 2000s saw Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso taking their talents to the decks as solo DJs. But it didn’t take long for these three childhood friends from Stockholm to start collaborating under various aliases and create the iconic Swedish House Mafia sound we know today.

The mid-2000s had a special surprise in store for Axwell, Angello, and Ingrosso, when they stumbled upon the Swedish DJ at a chance encounter. From then on, the foursome began to collaborate and forge a unique friendship that lead to them often performing together and delighting crowds with their joint efforts. Eric Prydz was even brought in to add to the festivities, making it a true celebration of music.

The moniker “Swedish House Mafia” first came to be when friends and admirers of the four began referring to them as such while they were touring together. This was officially recognized in March of 2007 at the Winter Music Conference.

In late 2008, the group finally settled on an official name, however, Prydz chose to remain an independent artist due to his personal preference for being a creative “control freak” in the studio. Despite this, he still maintained a close relationship with the collective and stepped away from the group shortly after their name was officially adopted.
